|| Coram is one of the UK’s leading voluntary adoption agencies. Our London Branch achieved ‘outstanding’ in all categories in our recent adoption inspection. We have also achieved ‘outstanding’ for our concurrent planning foster- care service. We are known for our innovative and child-centred work in all aspects of adoption, including adoption support.
Coram Capital is the partnership between Coram in London and four local authorities who all use Coram’s services to family find for their children (LB Harrow, LB Redbridge, City of London and Thurrock Council). We operate a hub and spoke model.
Coram operates as the ‘hub’, recruiting and approving adopters and foster for adoption placements for all the children referred by the Coram Capital LAs. We provide support to the families and children throughout the placement and after the adoption order has been granted, on a long term basis.
The Local Authorities act as ‘spokes’ and are responsible for the child’s journey to achieve permanence without delay. The Coram manager and senior practitioner in Harrow are responsible for managing the links between the children’s teams and Coram. We are currently applying to be recognised as an RAA together with our local authority partners, so this is an opportunity to be part of an exciting new development.
We have an opportunity for a Senior Practitioner to join Coram Capital Adoption, based at the LB Harrow office. Harrow was the first local authority to enter into a partnership with Coram 11 years ago, and this partnership is now very well established with excellent outcomes for children. Harrow was 1st amongst its statistical neighbours in 2016/2017 for the timescale from becoming looked after to placement and 2nd from PO to match. No Harrow children are currently waiting for placements as they are all placed swiftly.
You will be involved in Permanence Planning for Harrow children who need permanent families and achieving permanence at the earliest opportunity. You will be actively involved in liaising and working alongside social workers in the CIN and LAC teams and doing direct work with children who require adoption, working closely with colleagues based at Coram. You will also support the transition of children to their permanent family.
With a professional social work qualification and HCPC registration, you will have demonstrable adoption or family placement experience, along with experience of post-placement and post-adoption support for families and children. First class communication skills are a must, along with a strong team ethic.
